From that time forth, Eustace was a different boy

To be strictly accurate, he began to be a different boy.

Bio
There was a boy named Eustace Clarence Scrubb, and he nearly deserved it.

Eustace is the cousin of the four Pevensie children, but he couldn't have been more different from them. His mother and father (whom he called Alberta and Harold), though they doubtless meant well, raised Eustace by using Science, so that he liked nothing better than pinnng beetles to bits of card and boasting to others about his knowledge of shipping and politics and things. He didn't believe in magic, and was generally a twit of a boy.

Things began to change when he and his two youngest cousins, Edmund and Lucy, were transported through a painting to the land of Narnia. They voyaged with King Caspian the Tenth on the Dawn Treader, and Eustace made rather a nuisance of himself.

On one island where they landed, Eustace wandered away from the party and came across a recently vacated dragon's cave. He fell asleep on the hoard inside, thinking greedy, dragonish thoughs, and when he woke, he found himself turned into a dragon -- for when you sleep on a dragon's hoard thinking dragonish thoughts, that is what happens, as any child who has read the right sort of books can tell you.

Becoming a dragon changed Eustace's view on life dramatically. He soon became eager to please and helpful, but he was still a dragon -- until one night, when he met Aslan, and the Lion undressed hi, and he became a boy. After that, Eustace became a much more pleasant boy -- though still inclined to quarrel at times.

Eustace came to Narnia again a few months later (as time runs in our world) accompanied by Jill Pole, one of his few friends at the Experiment House school. He and Jill were charged by Aslan to rescue Prince Rilian from the enchantment he was under. With the help of a Marshwiggle called Puddleglum, they eventually did this -- though they were nearly eaten by giants, enchanted by a witch, and trapped underground on the way.

More than a year after returning to our world from that adventure, Eustace and Jill were called upon again to help Narnia, where over two hundred years had passed. Tirian, then king of Narnia, appeared in a vision to the seven Friends of Narnia. Eustace and Jill, the two youngest, and the only two still able to travel to Narnia, were to use a pair of magic rings to get there. But on the train to meet Edmund and Peter (who had the rings in question) they felt a terrible jerk and found themselves in Narnia, facing the captive King Tirian. They had been brought by Aslan, in his own way, to battle an invanding army of Calormenes.

In the final battle on Stable Hill, Eustace was captured by a Calormene soldier and thrown through the stable door, where he expected to find himself face-to-face with the fiendish Calormene god, Tash.

He finds himself someplace entirely different. . .

Physical: Eustace is about 16 years old and quite average -- brown hair and eyes, normal height, perhaps carrying a bit more muscle than one would expect.

Disposition: Eustace is quite capable and learns quickly. When others are excited, he is matter-of-fact. This is more a carryover from his days as a prat than anything, though he possesses a fairly strong character. In stressful situations, he still sometimes reverts to an attitude of "It's not fair." He's reasonably skilled at archery and swordplay, but has few court manners to speak of and doesn't know how to ride.

Eustace comes to Milliways from the beginning of Chap. 12 of The Last Battle.

If Eustace belongs to anyone besides himself and Aslan, it's C. S. Lewis, who wrote The Chronicles of Narnia. I'm just playing with him in the RPG [info]milliways_bar, and not making any money.
